Default ABS Light

My 87 S4 ABS light sometimes comes on at start up and sometimes not. I was checking the relay while it was idling and noticed how very hot it was. Is the relay bad or is there a short in the wiring or sensors? Has anybody had this problem?

one place to check is the distribution block by the power steering reservoir. I had a similar problem it ended up being corrosion between the wires.

If it lights before you drive a few feet it is almost always that relay which is failing. If it lights after you start driving then it can be the other two relays or sensors or wires....

Thanks guys, but I don't understand why the relay gets so hot. It comes on and stays on till the next shut down.
