Default GTS Front Wheels

Noodling over a possible change to different wheels ... are GTS front wheels ... the 928-only size 7.5 x 17 ET 65 ... particularly valuable?

My guess is I'd get $50 a piece for them on EBay, now that almost everyone wants 18s or 19s, and the 'Cup-2' style is so far out of date ...

Thoughts?

My next set of wheels might be some 17" Cups.
As there is less choice for the 16" at the back, I would go to 17" to stay closer to the 16" as mutch as I can.
With the poor road quality we have here, I think 17" would be better.
How about the rear ones?

Hi Bertrand, I am looking at the 8" wide Cups, so just thinking about the fronts, would keep the rears.

Tom, I would keep the stock Cup II's. They are good wheels and many people desire them but only as part of a complete set. They have more value than $50 ea. Every now and then someone needs to replace a cracked or badly bent wheel. Unless you are cramped for space put them up on the shelf.

I think the cups are more valuable than thought, the cup ones were only for the late 92 and 93 and cup 2 were full 94 and 95 yrs... each has it's own following.

I have cup ones on mine as I like the 1's over the 2's much better... just my opinion...I would like to widen the rears a little but I suspect that would be alot of trouble.

Valuable and hard to get here too. If you want to get rid of the fronts I'll buy them at that price.

I have a set real set of GTS Cup 1's and replica's I use on the 88. I like the look even today.

I'm partial to 5 spoke rims, I have these Gemballa's 18"x9" and 11" for the Strosek.

Good Tom.
And yes they are more valuable for sure than 50$...
If I would be you, I would keep them for sure...
That keeps me away from a very good deal though, welll...

Tom - As another data point, I sold this pair of the 17x7 ET55 Cup II's (admittedly not an exact comp) with tires for $200+shipping:

As you can see, this was in early 2010.

Sorry for the highjack, but I just can't not share this.
This is a quick mobile phone pic of how these look on a stock'ish 928:

Apologies for the quality, poor angle and lack of centercaps - will try to get proper pics soon.

Tom,

You can buy the replica cup 2's all day long if you sold yours and ever wanted to replace them, so I'm not sure how "valuable" the originals are??

Sold all 4 of mine for $500 a few years ago with bad rubber.

Chuck et al,
I don't think the replicas are available in 7.5" et 65. And, the OE ones in that width and offset are pretty rare as well. The 8" et 70 Cup II's are pretty close to the proverbial hens teeth in availability! I've found 4 sets in the past 5 years since I discovered them. Sold two sets, and have still have two.

I have one Cup 2 17 x 8 et 70 just looking for one more! Running the 17 x 7 et 55 front right now, they are very common. The 17 x 7.5 et 65 are pretty rare, but really only usable on a 928.
