The concern over the shocks is the lower through bolt. I gave mine a good soaking in PB blaster per the advice of those who have posted above and they came out w/o much problem.
Biggest issue I had was that the pictorial I followed had some confusing hardware layout photos. I quickly resolved with help of the community and in the end the pictorial made the job far easier thanit would have been without it. Good luck!

Only trouble I had was not noticing that the top mount bolt pattern is asymmetric - first one went up easily, second one - WTF? After a while it sunk in. Had no problems with bottom pins.
Either get the spings moved profesionally, or have a GOOD spring compressor. Note where the perch adjusters are on old units, set at the same height on new shocks.

Getting the adjuster collers off the old shocks is a PITA, no I take that back they can be a ROYAL PITA. I had to cut my shocks off just on each side of the adjuster, then had to split the shock tube and collapse them in order to remove. Good luck.

I decided to use my resources and started to read up on removal of the rear shocks and what I found is that those rear PINS are HUGE PITA.
I would hate to get started only to find that I cant get those pins out.....
