Default Kenwoo XR-5S amplifier

I'm using a Kenwood XR 5S with the sharkwoofer does nay body know if the internal cooling fan is always on or thermo-cycles.

I've been doing some further detailing on cleaning up my wire hook-ups and found the internal Kenwood cooling fan and the one supplied with the shark woofer are not running.

Herman, on all the compact series amplifiers I've used in the past, the fans run all the time [albeit, variable speed]. The kenwood amps supposedly have additional internal heatsinks [instead of relying on the chassis fins], so I'm not sure if this is true. This model does, however, have an active thermal circuit. There is an LED that will light up if you're getting too hot. My guess is it will perform a thermal shutdown if you trip the thermal circuit. Information online is pretty sparse...

Default Yes it's on all the time..

Thanks for the feed back. I went back in to the project and I found a bad solder joint covered with shrink tubing up stream from the power supply.

All amplifier cooling fans are now running all the time with the head unit turned on.

Best
