I know some think using cruise control is the work of the devil but at this point i am having trouble figuring out whats up with mine. its a total crap shoot when i try it. some times it works, more often it doesn't. i haven't had any electrical problems that i am aware of in this car but figured i would ask where to even begin trying to figure this one out.
no rhyme or reason to when it will work. it just does sometimes when i remember to test it when on the road.

CC control boxes are plagued with numerous cold solder joints that eventually cause the CC to operate intermittently. The WSM has a straightforward diagnostic procedure. But barring a vacuum leak the likely culprit is the control box under the HVAC in the dash. Some people have had luck using a hot soldering iron to reflow all of the joints. I think Roger sells "rebuilt" control boxes for a reasonable price.

remove the right parcel tray,
then right console side cover,
then under the heater outlet is a silver box held with one 7mm screw slide the box out
Note you may have to disconnect the window and sunroof wires first as they are in the way.
Once the box is out,
open it and then resolder the connector to the board,
and then in one of the corners of the board you should find a barrel thing sticking up,
resolder these connections and inspect for any other bad solder joints .
slide it back in the box and connect it,
road test, if no joy then you will have to go resolder the whole board.
NOTE there is also a test procedure in the WSM and you might also consider following that prior to the solder trick
