Havent read the whole thread. Does this design apply to OB's too? How much time in labor to fit it to a car? I'm interested. My shifter is fairly tight, but I wouldn't mind tighter.

This design definately applies to OB's. The instalation would require dropping the torque tube. The design elimates the front shift rod completely. The pivot is clamped, or welded, to the torque tube and the side to side movement is supported by sealed ball bearings. The fore and aft movement is OEM with the bushing and spring setup. I feel that this brings the "buzz" effect of a zero slop shifter to a negligible level. To take full atvantage of this design, requires the rear shift coupler bushings to be a zero slop variety.

I feel that dropping the tube to have a ideal solution to the less than adequate stock shifter would be best incorporated with a torque tube rebuild. I also feel that there are many 928 owners who would not hesitate to drop the the tube to get indefinite precision shifting.

I turned the two pivot shafts on Saturday. I need to run the clamps and the shifter. The clamps, I already have a program for so it is just set the tools and run. I made the first shifter in a proto-trak so I do not have a CNC program for it but that is not a difficult part to program. I have one set of clamps from my prototyping, they are dimensionally fine just a bit cosmetically chalenged.

do you have any idea on price? I had a aftermarket billet shifter in a 911 before with the G50 trans and the shifting was great. Would be interested if these will be priced well.

I'm definitely interested as well. Got a lovely OB that just needs its shift sorting out...

I'm a lucky dog tester for this piece of car jewelry, and I have some pictures and comments from installation. I took a pic on my phone with it installed, but I have a few other higher res pics on the camera I will put on here as well.

Without driving the car yet- have to
Put the front end together tonight, I can say this:

1) installation is simple and straight forward
2) movement/action is great
3) actual piece workmanship is like...it should be.

Brendan, glad to see the instalation went good. Definately report back with your opinion when you get the wheels down. Hope you have a good time at Sharktoberfest.

On a side note I did not have my actual shifter lever ready for Brendan to install so he used a shift lever he had. The only difference with my complete setup will be that the stock springs on the shift lever are retained.

Thanks for the continued work!

Note the not-too-distant get together, where you might get some additional reviews, images etc, and to know a few of the folks:
