Not a bad price. If you turn your own wrenches, it's even better. I agree with the above, TB/WP, fuel lines, and all fluids will need to be changed. Make sure the seller replaces the fog light before you buy the car, it's a $250 part.

That's a lot of car for $15k. Drive it for 200k miles and enjoy it.

If you didn't buy this car, then consider these for a future purchase:

-the seller was a flipper and doesn't know crap about 928s, so be careful
-no mention of service history
-no mention of accident history
-verify the mileage
-do a PPI before paying for the car

+928 and understand you are under NO obligation to complete the transaction either by law or by eBay rules. If the PPI turns up huge issues-you CAN walk away-TBF being a big one.

risaac928,

It's actually very easy on eBay. At the top of the description, beside the "Description" tab, there is a tab that say "Free History Report". Click on that, and start going down the page. At the very end, it gives a date and mileage for every "official" documentation of the car in every state. This pretty much allows you to gauge the number of owners, exposure to excessive heat, potential salty roads, etc. Take a look at it on this car, and you'll see the first date of registration was 3/93!

I did not intend to mislead anyone, but I did not buy the car. I almost bid on it, but the number of cars I think look good in white is very small and the 928 is not on that list.

I've had a relapse of 928 fever (in remission since the mid-80's) thanks to my girlfriend's affection for "Wheeler Dealers" (we are a gearhead couple with his and her rollaway tool cabinets) and the realization that I could now actually buy one of these cars. When this affliction roared back into life, a nice looking 5sp 1990 GT was for sale nearby. Got some idea of what a fair price for such a car would be but more information is always helpful. So I thought I would throw this out and see what comments it generated.

So I am lurking, learning and musing over my willingness to drop a not insignificant chunk of cash into an example of a car I have never sat in or driven. If lust wasn't irrational, it wouldn't be lust....

Yeah, do be careful, especially in this price range. This one will, in high likelihood, need the midlife massage of parts and lots of time by the looks of it. $5K at the min, parts. My opinion, but have seen so many of these cars in the last 48 months portrayed in so many ways. Facts, in form of indisputable records only, at $10K plus

Its easy to slick yourself into believing otherwise, especially when guys with extremely nice, expensive and well-sorted specimens are voting that its worth more. And they are right. After refresh. Maybe 15K is right for this, and its a 20+K car, hard to say, does look like a real solid base.

Gary--
Which points out WHY there were no 92 GTS cars sold in the USA......they had to unload all the carry over 91 cars.....before showing a "newer, bigger, better" model !

Eplehnista,

Post your real name in your signature and your location. You will find that these guys will jump at a chance to help you find the right car. We love seeing guys find a great car at a worthy price, but we hate seeing guys get screwed.

Ski instructor? In MD? Weird.

Anyway, shop again I guess. We got a knowledgeable guy named Ernie near Worchester I think. Haven't heard from him in a while, but he knows 928s. I agree about white 928s, I am not a fan. Red is the only correct color of course.

Red's worth 0.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

I teach weekends on a little hill in Pennsylvania. Got paid almost $400.00 last season. The other jobs listed in the sig support my ski instructing and other bad habits....
