No problem, most people never know there are surrounded daily by electropolished parts..from the reflectors in your headlights, to the reflectors in the flood lights in your home...to ALL the shiny medical stuff you see at a Doctor's office or Hospital...to the scalpel the Doc cuts with. And 99.9% of all mass produced shiny aftermarket car parts are electropolished.

It's relatively cheap, especially labor wise as you can polish as many parts at once that wil fit in the size tank you have access to.

Even more important, the EP fluids will polish in places NO tool can ever reach and to a microscopic level that is not possible "manually"..hence the long time use with medical stuff. It is easier to keep a microscopicly smooth material sterile than a more course material.

Back to intakes, for everyone who is going to put the time into manually polishing your intake..do yourself a favor aread up about outgassing aluminum, especially cast aluminum...IF you want to to stay polished for more than a few weeks. 16V intakes are permiated with oils and if you do not properly outgass the parts..you will be wasting your time...trust me!

IF you properly outgas a 928 Intake the polishing will last for years or even decades.

My Euro S Intake that was professionally polished over 10 years ago and has never been repolished (Washed and wiped off only for the last 10+ years)..

Then..

Now...

Here's mine. Rapidly wire-brushed in place, then clear brushed on the obvious, easy to reach areas. 1-1/2 hour job, and I love it. Has a nice machinery-type patina to it.

Yep. if you don't outgas before PC, you are spinning your wheels...if you don't outgas multiple times during the manual polishing process (Electropolishing procedures typically use "chemical outgassing") ...you will polish it again SOON.

The S4 side covers will easily polish up like a freaking mirror as they are close to pure AL...the intake itself will also, BUT due to the higher mag content, it will dull in hours..unless you follow special procedures. Check with an Aircraft Polishing specialist...they know how to polish Mag stuff better than most.

Have not EP'd an S4 Intake yet, may have to try it on one I cut up into pieces.

EDIT: BTW, I have a Pic of a Polished S4 Intake..if I can find it I will post it for you.

Thanks for all the help.

I guess I need to research having it polished vs polishing myself a little more.
