Arash,
My apologies, but given the shear volume of threads dedicated to replacement clocks, could you not find a better alternative?
I went through 3 of the digital clocks on the 88 before I came to the conclusion it wasn't worth it. The radio has a clock, my cell has a clock, the radio will give you the time every few minutes... my solution isn't perfect, but it only cost about a dime and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb (IMHO, and I do mean HUMBLE)
I'm happy your dad seems to be ok with it... if someone did that to my car I'd .. I'll save that for when/if someone does that to my car
I do admire your ingenuity, but it's just wrong

- Sure you can get the time from the radio, or your watch, or your cell phone, or use the frog-eyes as a sundial. The point of an analog clock is for decoration - why wear a watch when you have a cell phone in your pocket?
- I have seen aftermarket, tacky mods, and in a million years I would have never expected people to consider this tacky. I went out of my way to find a VDO clock with font/ticks similar to the factory gauge cluster, I used Porsche vinyl from a spare 944 headliner to fill the gaps on the sides of the clock (to match the grain), and I left all the wiring unmolested so the LCD could be easily reinstalled, should the next owner wish to do so. It's a nice mod, if you don't like it, keep it to yourself! Or at least, some constructive criticism!
- My dad asked me to put in an analog clock several months ago. He loves it.
- I thought it was obvious but maybe not: Mods cater to different tastes. There are a lot of things I see I don't like. I think the clock delete shown above does not look good (better than the LCD, though!) but I would never say something like "if someone DARED do THAT to my car, I'd get my panties in a bunch!" I mean, come on, how would you feel?
It's so funny, I never post or read this forum, and sometimes I wonder "why not? We have a 928... I should poke my head in." And when I do, I'm reminded why I stay away.

As for the clock, I'm keeping my mouth shut for this one.

The pic may not be doing justice to what it really looks like but I do agree with - "Let me just say, that LCD clock is cheesy".
Absolutely the "cheapest" looking thing ever installed in ANY car, never mind a Porsche. Of course, there are other opinions out there ;-)

Most of the posts I've seen from you about 928s have been less than favorable, despite your father owning one.

My issue with the aesthetics is mine and mine alone, it's an opinion. If you go back and look at the thread I did on my cover up, you'd see I got some grief on it as well. But I didn't have a hissy fit over it. Geezzz.........

You altered your dad's 928 without preapproving exactly what you were doing, so yeah, if someone did that to one of my cars I'd definitely get my proverbial panties in a bunch. The fact your dad likes it doesn't absolve you of that plain and simple.

I honestly think the 928 crowd is the most stuck up group of people on the forum. While some of the cars are 'nice', let's face it: the original LCD clock shows the cars age. You aren't driving a brand new 997 that warrants keeping things original, although most of you must wish you were judging by the way some of you incessantly pretend as if your car is still the top of the line thing around.
Get over it. The OP put a working clock in a car that had a broken clock. Not like I care, time is relative at the speeds I travel...

Ummm... no! I have been to GTG's that were primarily 911 based and it was like pulling teeth to get anyone to talk to me! The 928 group is a friendly bunch.
But you are right, 928's are just worthless turds, unlike a new 997!!
