Muffler bypass surgery: This 80 Euro sounds like an old pick-up truck I would like to do a mod to make it sound like a V-8.

I have cut into my 86-Pumpkin and gutted it but it has an x-pipe and mid mufflers and it sounds awesome.

This is a straight pipe, no cats to a square muffler only, I am not sure what would happen if I gutted this type of muffler. Has anyone tried it and if so did it become too loud? Does anyone have a picture to see what I am getting into?

I wanted some feedback before I suggest this to the owner and a little history of others experiences.

i would just build a really good single exhaust. otherwise,

but you should run SLP loudmouth resonators into 2 straight through magnaflows 18"X9"X4". these muffler's are fairly light.

your 4.7 will sound more exotic with this setup... it won't be loud and no resonances whatsoever.

 

Well this is not my car so the options are as stated, cut it open gut it out, looking for a real life experience with this.

 

I just completed fabricating an exhaust for my 84. think the baffles in the pumkin had rusted out as it sounded like an empty garbage can.

I had replaced the cat with a Y pipe a few years ago.

aftermarket rear muffler and magnaflow 4". sounds mellow and good, and not too loud. a little droning at cruising speeds but subdued.
