Pcar928fan is looking for the earliest Auto tranny 928, and this is one of them.

It may be the earliest altogether, and that can be found out with research.

And if that is the case, this car has future collectability.

And yes, there are definitetly other cars out there! Need look no further that Ed's (Linderpat) unrestored '78, US #834. It's a beauty!

Jim: Yes, the older cars are nice my 78 5 spd was #271, sold it for a song on ebay, my one regret, I don't remember seeing #834, is it an automatic? I hope you are right about future collectibility of the early 928's they were the original and purist form of the design. Bill

Chris: Ha, thanks for the offer! Yes, I agree, spend as little as one can and enjoy! I'm still working on getting my $1200 1980 Euro-S auto w/pasha interior running so I can drive it, will spend a little at a time dollarwise as I can afford it to fix it up! None of my cars are perfect but I enjoy them anyway.Bill

Bill,

That is the whole point of this thread and my posts... How EARLY of an auto trans car is this??? Is it the first? Is it the first in the US? Do we know? CAN WE KNOW? I don't know...

My idea is like Jim and others to get the EARLIEST of examples. Yes, there are PLENTY of better cars (hell, I own EIGHT of them that are WAY BETTER!) but they are all NEW by comparison to this car!

Jim, I have sent the seller an email but no word back from him at this point. I'll keep you all posted!

Yes James, I can appreciate the older cars too, i know what your looking for, i noticed there aren't many automatics in the 1978 year of production, what percentage were automatics, if i took a guess, I would say 20%? Good luck in your search, you have a great collection! Bill
