Default Adjusting tachometer

Hi,

I'm just wondering : can a tachometer be adjusted when rpms are not accurate ?
My 928 is of 1980 but my instrument POD with the tachometer is from 87.
My idle rpm is 600 (quite low) and when revving up, I only get max 3000 rpm.
Shouldn't this be much higher ?
Also when cruisin' at 55mph I don't exceed 2000 rpm.

What are the correct rpms for my car (it is a 4.5L euro 928 of 1980 with 3speed auto)

thanks

Gerrit

The 87 engine has two ignition systems each drive four cylinders but it sounds like you are reading about 1/2 of the real RPM.
