Default 75mm wheel spacer advice needed

Herrro

Im upgrading to hoosier a/r 6 tires (335/30/18 in rear and 275/40/17 in front) and having my 10 inch supercups widened to 12 to accommodate the new rubber. Trouble is the rears (285 for the moment) are almost rubbing on the inside so with another 2" Ill need a 75mm spacer. I know Fabio is running this size on one of his cars but Im not entirely sure how safe this would be for a track car with slicks or how hard it would be on the hubs?

Thanks in advance

Is it in the budget to buy the correct depth inner hoop for proper back spacing (8.5"?) and then size the outer hoop and skip the spacer?

BTW, saw a brand new 300 EXC going down the road the other day. Somehow they got it plated up here in Washington. Had turn signals, etc., very cool. Not often you see a two stroke buzzing down the road.

I don't think your hubs and bearings would know any difference between running a 2 inch spacer or a rim with 2 inch less back spacing. I have a set of 2 inch bolt on spacers I'd like to trade for 21mm spacers.

nope, not in the budget

most KTMs can be plated because they do not mark the titles with the offroad only label... I can literally feel the hatred when cops pull behind me at lights and have to smell its stinky 2 stroke farts

Thats why I was thinking but wasnt sure if there was some crazy 928 only reason why it couldnt be done... Thanks but theres no shot I could get away with 2" spacers without rubbing, has to be 3"

As long as you use bolt on hubcentric spacers with rear pressed in studs it is no problem. I would not want to see studs so long that slide on spacers were used or the cheap none hubcentric or those alloy spacers where the new studs are threaded into the spacer.

So if I understand correctly, you are installing new inners on the rear wheels to make them 2" wider towards the inside of the car? Why not just purchase new outers instead? The cost of the spacers seems pretty darn significant compared to just getting new outers instead of widening towards the inside.

Sorry for the ignorance but I was unaware that there was more than 1 type spacer to use (besides the crappy slide on ones)

These are the ones I am looking at:

75mm spacers are HUGE...thats 3"...

On the widow that had 18x12" wheels with 8.25" backspacing with about a 1" (25mm) spacer and 335/30-18 tires that fit with ease.....the wheels weren't even close to rubbing on the inside....BUT it had serious flares....GTS welded in + rolling to make it work.....

My 1st ??? is why so much tire??? Unless you have say 400+whp its too much tire....275-295 all around is ideal for a track car....

I was using the 3" spacers ( The exact ones you linked to ) on one of my widebody cars but I've since bought new wheels with a different offset so now I'm using 2" spacers. The 3" spacers only had less than 10 miles put on them while testing around the neighborhood. I will be happy to sell them to you for less than the Vertex price if you need/want them.

Fabio, that would be perfect. However, are you sure these wont make mince-meat out of the rear wheel bearings/ will be safe to use on a track? If so, shoot me a PM and we'll talk.

75mm spacers are HUGE...thats 3"...
Yup! thats the idea

With this car, traction is a relative term used only under 70mph. So bigger meat is a definite

these supercups are a custom offset that the PO had specified. This was a picture from when I still had my bolt in harness bar. Also it seems to only rub when the car is under a fair amount of load.

Quick update:

did some fender "trimming" and installed one of the spacers... I have had to go through 2 sets of these because 1 of the 2 spacers in each set did not fit the wheel correctly, the studs would go in 2/3 of the way then get stuck and not budge any further. Not sure if this is a manufacturing defect or what but Vertex Auto said they would take back the 2 that I did not use.

Here is the result of the left side, plenty of room for the 335s now
