I did the refoam thing and all works well, except for one mid range speaker that doesn't work and one mid range speaker that sounds distorted at power power.

The one that doesn't work shows no resistance on the multimeter, so it is busted.

The distorted one is probably glued off-center, so I'm going to reglue it see if it sounds better.

So, anyone have an old speaker laying around they want to part with? It is the original Blaupunkt 4 inch, 4 Ohm. Porsche partnr. 928 645 212 00. If I can't fix the other one, I might need two.

That's what he said - but only from 89-95 as thats when the 4" Blaupunkts were used. The old 4" from your 88 are different (made by ITT).

Aryan - did you try Mark Benton?

Yes the larger of the two door speakers, correct. Apparently the ones as of '89 (didn't know this).

I didn't try Mark Benton yet, good idea.

I bought some to bring back my car to stock after the PO butchered it. Have not gotten to replacing them yet. If you are in dire need I can sell them to you for what it cost me. $30 each + shipping. They ate original and have the foam rot. They will require foam replacement. I have not checked if they work as yet. I can send you pictures. Let me know if you still need them.
