What about the plastic tabs on the upper portion of the console?

Can you post a picture of which tabs you are referring to?

The upper portion of the console is secured to the dash by bolts that go thru two elongated holes. Mine were cracked:

I patched them with JB (but I will also epoxy a large washer on the other side when I determine the exact position for alignment in the car):

Mine look exactly like yours martin, however i was referring to the triangular tabs with (looks like) zinc coated pieces of metal on the end.

This is off topic, but i do not want to start a whole new distracting thread for such a simple matter. Door arrestor machine screws. The heads on all 4 of mine are stripped to hell, but i managed to count 12 points from what was left, are these triple square screws or spline screws? I assumed they were torx, but i really don't know for sure now because they are so stripped. Looked through the PET for 87-91 but for some reason they only had the actual hinge bracket allen screws, nothing referring to the arrestors.

Looks like a spline drive to me... i'll try that on my next trip to the hardware store. Also, i noticed you're in Palgrave, that's where i bought my 87' 5 speed 928 S4 the guy's name is Dave, dunno if you knew of that car. He is not a rennlister, but he had the car for a few years.
