Bought a new dipstick, old one was cracked where the Oring used to be, so..replace it. Fine.
But..im finding that the new one doesnt seem to click/snap/stick to the tube well whatsoever...entirely loose.
You feel no 'engagement' of what the Oring on the stick would seem to be there for.
After spirited WOT runs, I'll find a few drops of oil in & about that area..no geyser..just..why doesnt the dipstick 'lock' into place? Its just a gravity fit as best I can tell.
Thanks

I had the same problem and replaced the "o" ring with a green one out of a kit I purchased from Harbor Freight. It now "clicks" in just like it should with no leaking. I think the kit from HF was under $10.

Not centered in this photo here.... but it shows the dip stick stock o-ring fitted on my 90' S4 at the top. There is an excentric bolt hole on the tube for adjusting the compression of the seal.

I noticed that if the dipstick is not inserted HARD all the way down it will blow a bunch of oil all over the place....especially the racer......one time it was only 1/4" up and made a mess......its been fine ever since

Borland that O ring you have is not the correct part ,
the O ring actually fits on the smaller step of the tube and the O ring fits inside the girdle

I did try fitting it that way, then decided it fits better on the larger step of the tube as shown.
