fuel tank drain plug?

Default fuel tank drain plug?

i'm going to change my fuel filter and was thinking of draining the tank on my 87 s4.car sat for a long time and recently started sputtering and stalling when it gets below 1/4 tank.is there a plug?

Remove pump cover, undo hose from pump, drain into fuel can. Hang wrench on hose if too busy to hold hose.

sounds easy enough.most tanks the pickup line is in the top.the pump is feed from the bottom of the tank?

Yes, the fuel pump and filter is under the tank and it pulls the fuel from the bottom. On the top of the 928 tank is the fuel level sender assembly.

wrap a few strips of cloth around your wrists this will keep any errant fuel from running down to your armpits

Or.
I siphon from the top to avoid wearing/spilling any, and once you "hit bottom" while it looks as if there's still more to go in the tank, nothing comes out when you remove the tank fitting from the bottom (with the rear of the car slightly elevated).

Top being from inside the hatch, not the filler assembly.

Wrench slides off hose, fuel spills on floor, fuel spreads over garage floor to water heater area, BOOM!

can anyone recommend a good tank cleaning method.somthing along the lines of a pour in cleaner.
