Engine swap problem.....

Wow. If you could get that for a good price....
Remember just the cams are worth about 300.

Its an auto motor. Maybe just check crank end play to be sure?

thats on my list of things to do tomorrow when i swing by the shop to haggle. i still need to see if the machine shop has gotten to my euro heads yet, and see how that angle will pan out.

ya i have been thinking about what to do..... this motor is not free but i should be able to pick it up cheap. i have been sitting for 8-10 years so a new TB and seals would be in the works. clean it up, a little paint and i think i will be good. how hard is it to add a 85 harness and computer?
After setting I would be pulling the heads and replacing the head gaskets etc.

It's not super simple/ you have to connect the wires that don't directly go into the computers into your fuse and relay board. Fuel pump, ignition, etc

One guy I know put an s4 engine I to an 83. It took alot of swearing.

My 82 track car had a 91S4 engine (with brains and harness) swapped in; however, the brain was going bad, so I made the move to MS. Runs great with MS and gained 30hp in back to back dyno's compared to the LH setup.
If you go MS..I can send you the files so at least you could have a running engine....and then you can tweak it to fit your particular engine over time. My MS came from Colin's 85/86 and that baseline map worked for the S4 engine..but I did optimize it over time (still needs some tweaking but I drive it to our track events across the State and it runs well around town)..

Hacker converted an early engine to LH 2.2 w/ EZF.
I built him a special harness for the EZF to be wired up.
I have converted an 81 to a full 86.5 practically. I even changed the fuse panel. Took every wire out of the car and installed the later wiring...... I wouldnt recommend that for most ppl though!

my goal is going to be more power, and a fun project for me to do. im not afraid of doing wiring (if i can re wire an minute man III ICBM< i think i can do this :-) )
end goal is a SC motor. stroking is just to much $$$ unless you find a good used stroker motor. im waiting to hear back from the guy that has the 32v to see if my offer is good etc.. if anything it would be nice to have for a later time. this winter i could clean it up and rebuild it etc.
on monday i should have a good 5L short block arriving. my plan with that is to send the rods/pistons to Greg (when he responds to me email :-P ) and have him do the reliefs and rings etc for the hybrid build.
i dont think its wise to just drop in that 32v after it has been sitting for 8 plus years. it needs a good refresh. Mark Benton does have the computers and car harness i would need if i decided to go that route over a MS or Tec GT. from what i gather the 32v would make as much power as the hybrid, but the hybrid does have much less parts so cost would be down...
