Default surgery on cooling fans

decided before i bought new cooling fans i would try to take them apart and clean them.wasn't too bad of a procedure.found alot of black dust in them and some rust on the rotors as well.cleaned them out and reassembled them and tested on the bench.while they are out i'm going to change belts.

How do the bearings sound on the post-clean fans? I put 2 new fans into the GTS before heading to SITP, 'cause the old ones sounded like crap and I've just run out of time for projects lately.

Here are audio files of old and new- not much difference when running but listen with headphones to the tail end of each file and you can hear the bearing grind a bit.

There's a great writeup on here about rebuilding fan motors, by 928Myles:

It's an easy job to change the bearings when the fans are apart. At that point you can't tell them from new.

I posted, not long ago, what bearings are needed for a cooling fan rehab. As a bonus, their cheap, too!

wasn't a bearing problem on mine.no noise but one fan was binding up.they sound real good on the bench but the real test will be when they are back in the car and heat up.
