The ad says;
"Owner, non-smoker with all the books and manuals. Meticulous service history done by the selling Porsche dealer."
Should it read;
"We picked this baby up at auction for $9K, fixed the body damage and she's all yours for $26K"
Would we view the car differently?
I sure would.
It makes both statements by the dealer to appear to be straight lies.
Buyer beware.

Yeah exactly you could buy the book and manuals. But then that second statement would just be a lie. "looks nice so everything should have been done." but we are saying it is. It would also be interesting to see if someone asks if it has ever had any repairs done. To see what their response will be.

They emailed me back:
Alberto :
We called the selling Porsche dealer and they went over all the service with us and if you call me I can go over it with you. We repainted the rear bumper because of a minor ding on the right side that didn't break the paint. Clean car fax with no stories. Anything else just let me know.
Thanks,
Joe Fay

Ha! guess that minor ding just buffed right out!
Like I said, makes me wonder about these guys. they told me mine had been brought in by one doctor owner who rarely drove it and they didnt have the books or records 'but we might be able to get a hold of him and see if he has them.' never did. i wanted the car and bought it knowing the risks but at this point i wouldnt just trust what they say. amazing. maybe you should send that before and after pic to mr. fay and see what he has to say. power of the internets.

I would but I emailed him from my work email. Only email client that isn't blocked so he has my bank work # and dont want to get harrassing calls here. I specifically asked if he had receipts so guess not.

I bid $9,150 and then gave up, Local bidder won it. they didnt even say anything about online bidders bidding on that car.

Ran rough, The whole car went into a state of shock at 3K rpm. At least thats what I noticed. There had to have been a reason for it to be a donation, thats the way I see it.

Cars get donated all the time for all sorts of reasons. The owner could be ill or have passed away and who ever had to take care of the estate did not want to mess with a rough running old Porsche. Just easier to donate.
Obviously the issue has been cured, or will be cured before someone pays anywhere close to the asking price.
(or if the aution was "rigged" as some think, I bet they pulled a plug wire to make it run rough to keep the bid price low)

Hardly a reason not to buy a car without further research. Could be a dozen reasons a car would run rough that are simple fixes to a shade tree mechanic but are totally baffling to someone that knows nothing about cars.

Cars get donated to charity often by owners that think they will get a deduction for "what they think the car is worth" instead of the net proceeds after expenses the charity gets, which in this case might be $6k to $7k. Basically a huge mistake I doubt many make a second time.
