You likely switched spark plug wires

It wouldn't seem so from what he's told us .... The first post read that he got the problem before he went fault finding on the ignition, with no worsening of the problem after that work.

Cato .... I can't think of anything else and I'm wondering if this issue is just coincidental in happening at the same time as you replaced the bottle.

You say that you had a backfire before, but then no problem until you changed the bottle. Perhaps that problem just happened to reappear now.

As there doesn't appear to be an immediate easy answer, you're going to have to methodically check all the systems that could be responsible ... such as fuel, cam timing, vacuum, and ignition again (including advance).

All the basic things need to be ticked off the list one at a time or you'll end up just continuing to guess and go in circles.

Thanx guys,

Yes, I am 100% sure I didn't switch the plug wires, simply because I took them of one at the time.

I will make an appoitment at a workshop this week (today is a natinal holiday here in Norway, so it will have to wait until tomorrow).

I will get back if/when a sollution is found.

Anyway: Thank you all very much for trying. It is very much appreciated!

BTW: Should it be something too expensive (or impossible) to fix, then I'm in the market for another 928 (hopefully a 4.7 but not newer than 1982 due to Norwegian tax).

Best regards

Cato

Anything can be fixed :-)

I have good hopes it is a small problem that can be fixed without incurring massive costs.

Let is know what the workshop finds out.

Cheers
