Back home from RPM #22. The rain held off until early evening on Saturday - then buckets for several hours. We were back from the tour with cocktails in hand at the hospitality suite before all that. The forecast no doubt scared some folks away or prompted them to leave their show cars home, though.
As always, it was a well conducted, thoroughly enjoyable event at a great venue. Kudos to Hank Weil and the Shenandoah Region for another memorable RPM.
Attendance was lighter than normal with only 3 cars in the transaxle class: my GT, a red 85 S and a black 85.5 944 with only 27k miles.... which looked new (as it should, I suppose) and was well prepared. I thought the 944 was going to take the class, but the judges must have considered the extra 70k on my odometer and gave me the nod. I spent quite a bit of time with the car and spoke to more than a few who expressed their love and fascination with the 928, and a few who got some education on the model.
But wait, there's more. This year, the kind folks at Euroclassics Porsche in Richmond ponied up a Porsche Driving Experience, which went to their top pick of all the class winners. Guess who's going to Hotlanta?
It was quite an honor and great to see the 928 recognized amongst the 356, 911, etc.
Credit for this very cool pic goes to Mr. John Novotnak.
