I'll offer up a simpler alternative for the local Phoenix crowd later in the summer - how about an AM/Lunchtime ride out to Canyon Lake when the weather cools down a little - maybe September. We could head out through the twisties on the Apache Trail - stop at the Canyon Lake viewpoint and then head past Canyon Lake for lunch at Tortilla Flat. If we are lucky we can snag some saddles at the bar - and then lunch in the restaurant.
Its a fun place and a neat drive. Usually folks get out of the way except those towing boats...starting a little later after a coffee meet up helps avoid most of these...
If you haven't driven out there - its a really nice ride for a weekday extended lunch - almost no traffic - great views, twisty roads, hairpin bends, big cliffs (don't drink too much).

Count me in! A nice road trip from Texas. Haven't been back to Arizona since 1989. I used to live in Fountain Hills.

Dee & I are up for it, maybe a great breakin run for the "Polecat's", new engine. Aug., 15th is booked for Dee, any other weekend will work. I just need time to re-work my schedule.
