I bought a dark blue euro 635csi sight unseen on Ebay back around 1997. Flew to San Diego to pick it up. Upon inspection, fixed the badly leaking FI line with JBWeld and inflated the severely cracked tires. Halfway home, I met up with a new Z3 just North of Santa Barbara, and we drove like stink all the way up Highway 1 to Carmel, and that is a road you could very easily die on. A dark blue car over into the Pacific? They would never even find it.

Lol, this is exactly what i would probably do. Although i would deffinitely see if i could unearth some info on if/how long it had been sitting without any long term storage maintenance, and get it up on jack stands to inspect the fuel delivery system for cracks/crimps/loose connections. This would deffinitely be a good parts car though too. Just a couple weeks ago my dad made a trip to the biggest auto wreckers place in our region for a Nissan Versa door, and said there was an 87 S4 that had just been written off (front end collision). I called them to inquire about the price of the whole car, but they never called me back...
