What do you need the gear puller for? Mine come off with fingers. I think I used a puller to put a little gentle tension on one car that was here for a clinic, but otherwise never need them.
And... Places like Advance Auto Parts have them on a deposit-to-loan basis.
I worry more about folks having the right stuff to get the crank bolt loose and then re-tightened correctly, and a small enough torque wrench in the collection for the baby bolts on the pump. And a bucket of patience to do it right, and the ability to follow one of the several detailed procedure instructions.

I thought you needed a gear puller to remove the TB pulley from the old WP....it also looks like I have to remove the crank pulley-damper to get that 1 bottom bolt off the waterpump.....ideally I would like to not have to remove all that stuff.....
I also need to rebuild the tensioner....since it has no oil in it...it all leaked out months ago.....

The only thing that gets removed from the old waterpump is the red plastic timing indicator, and the idler roller assembly, if you're not already running a Porkensioner. I'd guess the (remaining) rebuilders wouldn't be happy if you pulled the pulley off the old waterpump and then sent it in as a core..

Brian,
You will need to remove the dampener and crank pulley to get the middle cover off and the water pump. But no puller on the damper, at least not with much tension on it. As I mentioned, only one car has needed a little coaxing with a puller, and that was hand-torque on the big bolt, no tools on it. Unless your damper is corroded onto the crank, you'll be better with just your hands to avoid breaking the rubber intermediate ring in the damper.
