Default Sharktoberfest 2011

Ok it's time for me to do some planning. We have always had Sharktoberfest the 3rd weekend in October but this year the Rennsport Reunion is that weekend and I do not want to conflict. http://www.autoweek.com/article/2011...CTOR/110309905

I'm thinking 10-8 or 10-22. Any preferences out there?

Socal NASA has an event the 8-9th if that matters, I cant find the SCCA schedule..but im sure youre aware of it.

Norcal NASA is free both weekends..so Im impartial to either.

Cant wait to make my first one..the $4000 bucket would not have survived the whole trip last year as-is at that time.

The weekend of 8-10 is very busy for NASA and PCA @ Infineon (as stated above) - Trackmasters is running at Laguna on the 9th. The only other conflict on my schedule right now is NCRC, which is scheduled at T-Hill on the 22nd.

Greg--

Come on out. Even if you wing it instead of driving all that way, it's a great gathering.

Oct 22-23 is 24 Hours of Lemons at Infineon and I think I'm going to be tied up with that.

Let me ask this then. How many of you are planning on attending the Rennsport Reunion?

I am going to Sharktoberfest 2011. I think this is in S. Cal. and any date is fine with me.

Details of the rennsport reunion posted below.. like Randy said.. sounds like a 911 event... but... maybe this can piggyback with Sharktoberfest?...

Maybe for Sunday, the concours can be the destination for the drive?... Or for folks coming into town early..head to the track on Friday?

Just a thought...

=-----------------------------------------------

Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today announced Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will take place at the famed California racetrack the weekend of October 14 – 16, 2011.

Sponsored by PCNA, Rennsport Reunion IV brings together an unprecedented gathering of significant Porsche vintage and current race cars, as well those who have driven them to victory in the world’s most famous sports car races. The three-day program of on-track competition is complemented by a concours d’elegance, which is open to invited race participants, and special activities celebrating the decades-long history of the legendary 911 race cars.

Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will assemble the wide variety of Porsche’s most historic racing models from the nimble 550 Spyder of the mid-Fifties through the mighty 917 and 956/962 of the Seventies and Eighties to the highly successful GT3 RSR of the last decade. Special tribute will be paid to the numerous racing versions of the Porsche 911 and their countless victories on the dawn of what will become another milestone of this iconic sports car from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

“This will truly be a rare gathering of significant Porsche race cars on the West Coast,” commented Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “Porsche has a long racing tradition in Monterey and we look forward to celebrating its heritage in a befitting manner for everyone to enjoy.”

Additional details of the Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV will be published on Porsche’s web site (www.porsche.com/usa), and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s web site www.mazdaraceway.com, as they become available. Tickets start at $25 and are available by contacting 800-327-7322 or online at www.mazdaraceway.com.

Complementing the Rennsport Reunion IV venue is the Porsche Race Car Classic, an exclusive concours held at nearby Quail Lodge in Carmel on Sunday, October 16. Steve Heinrichs, producer of the Porsche Race Car Classic, explained, “this once-in-a-lifetime gathering of vintage Porsche race cars solely from Porsche’s break-out era of 1950-1965 will raise critical funding to directly support lung cancer research. We’ll have Gmünds, Glöcklers, 550s, 718s, 804s, 904s, 356s, Abarths and more - in numbers and provenance never before seen.”

I was tempted to go until I realized it was on the normal Sharktoberfest weekend.

Best Oxford accent....
"It was a lovely, air-cooled, Sunday morning at the Rennsport Reunion concours...until...

The 928's rumbled in with their hooligan V8's."

Love the idea!

Note that Laguna Seca is 350 miles from Anaheim.....that is one way ! What would be really entertaining is IF they would let Mark out on the track with his 928 .....never happen even if he would pony up the $500 entry fee.
