Going to pick up Weissach #217 on Monday!
Hello all,
Yesterday a 928 popped up on Austin CL, Weissach #217. I went over and checked it out today and long story short, there's gonna be a second 928 in the drive come monday! Looks like the car belonged to a rennlister sometime in the past (roger?) and was hoping I could get a little more info on (from?) whomever might have had it before. Paints not very good, but all the interior aside from front seats is great. Right at 90,000 miles, doesnt seem to have any leaks, and runs strong. Has a LSD and the short throw shifter among a few other options. Will post some pics monday...Any info you might have would be great!
Thanks!!

Yes I have been searching a ton to try and understand the numbering system. Still really unsure as there are two numbers, the one on the badge and the first line of the certificate says #217, and then under that it says model #197 of 205...

Very cool, these are beautiful cars.
Your comment about the numbering is interesting, I'd never heard of that.
Can you post a pic of the certificate?
I"m sure Roger would have the explanation for the # 217 you're referring to, but just so you don't confuse folks you should refer to your new ride by badge number, #197.
Roger Tyson can be found at www.928srus.com and is a frequent Rlist poster.

Sure, Ill post a few pics of the certificate when I get it, I heard the first number (217) might refer to the total number of Weissachs produced (including 911s) ?

IIRC it belonged to someone (Parker) in San Antonio.
Can't give you an answer for the two different numbers you are seeing but I do know that Porsche made more than 205 Weissachs. I have number 210.
Does the car have a new looking shifter - IIRC Paul Champagne made a cover from some of my original seat material from my second Weissach.
Welcome to the club.
