The last time I bought a 928 for my wife, it damn near cost me my marriage. I ended up forfeiting the car. Your results may vary.

Lesson of the story? Oil and vinegar do not mix, despite any temporary subtylties.

Two women in my family have them for DD cars.
Keeps my hobbyism defendable.
Downside is the massive nagging if one of them is letting me pilot the thing

"Don't park too close - don't scratch my spoiler" is one of many chirps that come out of the right seat.

That should make you happy, because it indicates they really do care about their cars.

I'm not a big fan of white cars, generally, but Derek's looks like a super-sweet ride and I wish I had room for 3 sharks (getting tired of all my cars being manuals, too)! My girlfriend would look quite cute driving that one...if I were looking for one for my S.O., that'd be the one!

Can't believe it's still for sale...great car, great deal

Getting my wife her 928 was a good thing for me. When I got my 951 five years ago it needed a lot of work(still does, always will)& while she didn't mine the time I spent working on it, she did chaff at the expense. Now that she's got her car, Porsche parts are just another household budget item.

928 drivers in an area tend to stumble into each other.

So, I'm thinking if buying for the girlfriend its best to buy something else entirely for the S.O.

YMMV of course.

Ha! That's why I said "S.O." not "wife" (same person as gf). The 928 is my mistress; whenever I started dating someone new, and drove her in the car the first time, something on the shark would break...ignition monitoring relay would trip...triangle window guide would fall loose...etc...quite a jealous mistress at that.

That said, part of the point of getting an OB for an SO is that it does not sit as low so they won't be tearing up an S spoiler when they carelessly run ALL THE WAY UP to the concrete parking blocks or sidewalks
James,
good point. my wife has pulled up on curbs in her Audi A8 and torn the from bumper cover off several times.

Jeff,
I had not thought of selling my '84, but MAY consider a trade up to an SC/5sp. almost afraid to even post this reply

considering the fact my wife almost killed me when I got it, such a move may involve more torture....

mine is an '84 auto with about 105K miles. looks good and runs GREAT. I got for a DD since my 911 has become a harsh DE/track car 3 yrs ago.

I have done a lot of work since I got it. just ordered a few new items on the way. a new rear muffler, fuel pump/filter/hose as a preemptive since it is starting to buzz, and a Jager shift boot and ****.

once that is done, only issues left on my list is installing the shocks and MM I have this winter.

give me more info on your 928 and pics.

Bob, your '84 is even nicer than mine! LOVE IT! I'll trade you straight up! Looks CONCOURS READY my friend! If it were my car you couldn't pry the keys out of my hands! SO NICE! Seriously I wouldn't sell that car for $14k! Can you imagine the cars we have seen here over the years and what it would take to turn those $1k, $3k, or even $6k cars in to a car like yours? Another $10k at least! Your car is BEAUTIFUL!

Hey Guys, This is Debbie of debandjeffs928. It is apparant by my husbands initial post that he has worms eating at his brain. What I want is an ob style, 16v, automatic, fairly low mileage, daily driver. I presently drive a Saab 900s that he built for me a few years ago, I LOVE this car. He thinks that I would be happier in a 928 auto. I would like your and your WIVES opinions on this. First time caller long time listener.

James,
thanks for the compliments. labor of love.

I tihink I got luck finding this one. it was in good condition when I bought it 3 yrs ago for $3600. guy got a promotion and fell in love with a BMW. just had TP/WP done, new tires and alignment. PPO had just had brakes done.

as I have done all the wrenching, I think I have about another $3k in parts so far.

928s are incredible cars. I just don't understand why they don't have more of a following.

LOVE IT

Maybe the esson of the story is that maybe it should have almost cost you the 928???
