Default Considering this '81 928....

Hey guys,

Long story short....have been rebuilding a 944 for the last few months, getting ready for paint now. Have done all the work myself, clutch, timing belt, etc etc etc.

Came across this 928 on Craig's in my area and wanted your opinion. Would be another long term project for me. Figure worse case is I buy it, it's toast, and I part it out to you guys instead.

"v8 automatic ran fine when i parked it been setting for 2 years wont start body and interior fair shape front tires are shot motor and trany were perfect when i parked the car "

Yep read all four pages of the welcome thread, and will keep reading other posts here.

Thanks for looking and opinions welcome.

michael

EDIT: Should have mentioned, the asking price is $850

Could be a fun project. Why the hell does it have 944 Cookie Cutter wheels on it? 928's NEVER came with those wheels!

I'd love to have some 951 phonies for my car.

Hell James, most of our cars still on the road didn't come with the wheels they have on them.

Sean, that is true isn't it... Well, except mine... '81 does have the same style wheels and same size but they came off a 951, '82 STOCK (of course, but with an extra set of matching wheels so the car can actually be driven from time to time), '84 Stock (plus and extra set), '85...I have the stock wheels but it is rolling on some mighty fine wheels now, '88 Stock all the time, '92 stock all the time and '94 stock all the time! That said, I would change out almost ANY of those sets of wheels for Carrera Light Weights! I just love the CLW's!

It was parked for a reason and now it will take $5000 reasons to get it in any kind of presentable shape, assuming the running part is correct. Of course, then you'll have a $3,500 car. The good news is guards red single stage paint WILL buff right out

If it was me, I'd offer to tow it for free or for something non-monetary, like a $250 best buy gift card bought with my skymiles If it was running and driving great, that's a real loser move to park it and let it rot.

Can't hurt to go look at it. Be especially watchful for any water damage or corrosion issues that might place this car under water at some point in it's history.
