GAH! What got cut out by the PO here?
Oh,Wise Ones:
So I take off the air box to zip tie the heater valve shut & get rid of the incessant HEAT that pours out of all vents all the time. There I see two neatly cut hoses at the rear of the engine bay on the rt side. What pray tell were those at one time connected to?? I'm going to guess something expensive. The car is an '81 auto.
THANKS!

Air pump meaning that hose is on the other side of the air pump and connects to the air box. The other hose looks to be from the fuel vapor recovery system but I'm unfamiliar with the '82 to tell you where it connects to.

Well if you are asking about the open 90 deg hose its from the air pump but attaches to a port on the bottom of the air filter hosing which is off. Looks as it should when air filter housing is off. When I did my air pump delete this week I removed all the plumbing.
The braided hose in the back may come from the charcoal canister and on my car runs to another port on the side of the air filter housing.
What makes you think the PO cut something out?

Thanks for the insight. Is there a rationale for pulling the air pump? And pardon my ignorance (I've only had it 5 months/total noob)-what is the function of the air pump?
@Jim: Like I said-I'm a newbie at this. I saw what looked like cut hoses and thought someone cut something out. There's no real history at all on the car. (Nice pic of your car BTW)

Air pump has some impact on emmissions control so in CA you might need to keep it on. I am sure the CA gang will chime in.
No emissions testing in Texas for a car my age so not a real issue.

Regarding the issue about the heat coming out of all vents (espec. the ones in the door), I have the same problem.
Does anybody know what causes this? The center vent (above the controls/radio) delivers cold air only.
AC does not work (probably no fluid/gas in the system).
