Jim,

We need to get you out more :-)

From my observations over the last 20 years, the 928 has evolved more since they stopped building them then they did over the whole production life....thanks to a whole list of people continuing to improve the platform in so many ways. I see it more and more each year at the various 928 Events, they are FAR from the same ole cars.

Heck, just to use Mike Simard as one example..he has single handedly made more real performance improvements to the 928 in a few short years than Porsche did over a decade or two.

Then add up all the improvements by the likes of Louie Ott, Marc Thomas, Carl Fausett, Tim Murphy, John Kuhn, John Speake, Paul Champagne and many many others ... and IMHO, they are far, far from the "same old cars". These guys and many others have turned a nice solid German GT car into a real SuperCar that is hard pressed to be surpassed by just about anything made even today (within reason).

Thank goodness those guys didn't just sit around and say "this won't work, or that won't work" and instead continually applied their ideas to improve the platform for all that are interested.

BUT, as you know well, even the "same ole 928s" without any of those improvements is still a TON of fun, as you can attest with the very brown 80 over all these years!

Personally I would much rather anyone at least try something new, no matter if it works or not (or regardless of what others say about it). Typically failed attempts can sometimes bring even better improvements...and it is a heck of a lot better than people sittting around at a keyboard typing the same ole negative responses everytime something new/different is mentioned or attempted.

Hmmm....maybe this says it better than what I am trying to say. :-)

Not sure who's car it is.

I have a wing just like it in my garage. Wasn't sure if it was an AIR. Was thinking of putting it on. Got all the quater glass seals and trim with it a few years back.

So you left on the original 3 piece spoiler?

When I got the one I have it came with the rear hatch, quarter glass gaskets and new quarter glass trim.

Not sure what to do, now that I see it with the original S spoiler.

Too bad there is not an add on bracket for each side of the exhisting S4 wing that allows you to install below to raise the stock one 1-2" inches...maybe there is one, anyone know...?

White L, if my thought screams punk let me know ; )... the mid thirties youth will dominate this forum soon... jajaajjaja

Marine... I didn't mention 'punk' in that other thread. My thoughts were leaning toward 'ricer'. [look up user name RicerSchnittzle for an example of a riced-out 928]

But for your spoiler question, it shouldn't be that difficult to make a spacer that follows the contours of the OEM spoiler 'legs'. Then, use longer bolts to mount to the hatch. Aluminum would be the most likely material to create the spacer... but I am not sure how body paint would adhere to it long term being exposed to the elements. Plus, you would create additional shear points which may lead to breaking the bolts and losing the wing at high speeds. The resulting immediate loss of downforce would be catastrophic.

Some very high-grade aeronautical types of material & hardware may make it possible. Reinforcing below the hatch would be beneficial as well.
