Good point, I bought my 84 euro S from a BMW electrical shop for $1100 because they could not find a constant drain on the battery and teh PO gave up on it - mechanics lien kicked in! Turned out another PO rigged up some sort of relay combo to work his windows, and one of them was always on, even with key out. He used low impedance relays, so his drain was over 1/3 amp!

4 hours into car and problem found and fixed. Now my daughters almost daily driver on the east coast.

Good Luck with the next 6 months of problem free driving!
OK, the owner's manual does say that this car requires 8 quarts, so what's the problem?

As for the oil weight, the manual specifies 10W40 synthetic is good up to over 100 degrees ambient. Those were long ago days, and modern synthetic oil didn't exist in weights like 0W40 which is now commonly sold. So I'll be interested to see if I have a viscosity problem.
