Default Blower box reseal - 3m calk strips?

Hi guys,

So I went through my local AutoZone and Home Depot looking for 3M calk strips. No luck... I wonder if I can substitute them with either silicone or calk that Home Depot sells in tubes? Also, it seems like there is NAPA store not that far from me that has this for sale:

https://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/C...000999999&An=0

Can I used that? Any other readily available options?

Thank You!

I have used the NAPA stuff. It did a great job. I would NOT use and caulking from a tube as its too flow-able. This NAPA caulk is like soft rubber. Also stay away from asphalt type sealant as it dries and crumbles.

Get the right stuff...this is not a job you want to do again anytime soon.

Yes...I am happy with the NAPA strips. I did double up as the strips in my box are at most 1/4" diameter. I think they may come in different sizes.

the 3M stuff is readily available on eBay if you want.
3M don't bring it into the country here so I had to purchase a box from the US and eBay was the simplest option.

the 3M strip caulk is also easy to find at most auto body supply stores,
they also sell the 3 M paint protectant film its expensive.
As Dean said only use the strip caulk any other sealant will probably leak,
you would use about 3 ribs deep of the strip caulk to fill the sealed area on the blower box

Went to local NAPA store and much to my surprise they had 3M calk there (NAPA online store does not list anything 3M and only showed they had calk from the link above). Snatched the set, hopefully it will be enough to do the airbox.

Thanks a lot for your input guys!

if you got the regular 3M strip caulk box,
its is enough to do about 6 blower box reseals
