16v vs 32v power envy
The first two 928s4 cars I owned were the 32v DOHC engine 5 Speeds my current car is the 16v SOHC 5 speed. When I push the gas pedal feels like something is missing! Something like POWER. At first I thought the car was just not running right but the more I dick with it the more I am thinking that this 16v SOHC is a girls car. Looks awsome drives awsome has the power of a ford escort WFT.
I said go faster, FASTER

You're right it is low on torque.
It can still be fast around a track due to a good suspension and driver skills, and because you can keep the engine wound up.
But the lack of torque at low rpm- by contemporary standards, is a matter of physics. And that is what makes them feel weaker on the street. Depending on your street, I suppose...

something is wrong with your car i have the 240 brake early model and its still faster than most things on the road,if i open the taps in 3rd from a 3k rpm cruise it will pin me to the seat and pull hard all the way to the redline.feeding it the next 2 gears same result, ive driven the s model which is quicker but the 16v is comparable, feels nothing like an escort! get your car on to a dyno that will tell you for sure.

Chances are good something is wrong with your car. My US 83 5 spd makes for very spirited driving on the street, not crazy fast compared to some, but it is FUN, maybe more fun than other cars that reach speeds too dangerous for the street in a few less seconds of pleasure. It stops excellently, rides smooth, and looks like nothing else. It doesn't need to be the fastest zero to sixty to out class 99% of the cars on the road.

I remember one time when one of my friends with a US '83 and I in my former US '86 were going at it (both 5 speeds); we both had one passenger. I was only slightly pulling away from him until ~100mph, then I just zoomed by him. I was 100% sure he let up or something broke, but when talking to him afterwards he was still fully into it. Don't be fooled, stock for stock, the 32v will soundly beat a 16v at higher speeds unless we are talking about a EuroS. It's the HP curve that just falls on the US 16v as Jim says. I am not saying a US 16v is slow, but it is slower than a 32v definitely.
