Yep. You are definitely right. Quarter is out in that shot. (right way to clean the grounds on the right side, of course, but more info needed)

Also, carfax mileage statement leaves some questions during the years in my mind.

Latest title transfer in Tennessee indicates that buyer or seller identified the mileage as inaccurate.

More pictures would be needed for high bidding.
Seeing the right exterior side of the car, for instance, would be relevant to me. Check that. Seeing it in person would be needed.

It may just show how inefficient the 928 "market " can be.....huge range in prices.

To play devil's advocate, if someone is looking for a 100% unmolested, spoiler-less car, is $9k really that much money?

Seriously guys, are we not supposed to be 928 fans here???

$5k - $6k this car wouldn't have generated a thread. OMG.....$3k more it must be a scam..........!!!!!!

Again - assuming it's 100% - this car is far more rare than a 65-67 Corvette Big Block that would easily sell for five times this amount for a 7/10 version.

Rare does not make a car valuable, Edsels are rare ......demand does. And frankly there are not enough "fans". Point is it takes two people bidding to move up the price not just one who really wants it. Shill bidding has always been an issue for E-bay they try hard to shut it down, the most flagrant abusers get vacations..... But you are correct none of us know for sure and anything is possible. I did not consider that I might have been making generalized comments detrimental to a used car salesman's reputation or that that was even possible.........

Two of the Edsel's on Hemmings are asking $18k & $34k

On a serious note, I've personally seen 16V 928's sell for this kind of money locally. They were close to perfect cars with more miles than this one. Some of them slightly modified (headers / wheels etc..).

$9,000 doesn't even buy you a new Kia. From what I've seen from those cars, this 928 is probably more reliable and cheaper to maintain.

The knee jerk reaction to any non-EuroS 16V selling for more than a happy meal is getting a bit old.

Could be coincidence that the bid is now $10 over the asking price on the lot. Could be a local buyer and the lot isn't willing to sell now that its on ebay.

I believe this is an Enzo. The "no rear quarter panel" option looks familiar. Something is fishy here.

Original, preserved & maintained means a lot to me. Worth it!

This one has some flags that would need exploration.
And that's why the original question is astute.

I, too, feel like we've seen and discussed this car before in a different context.

I must have it. I won't go higher than $20k though without seeing engine pics, then maybe $25k.

I just asked the seller about the rear quarter panels, and received an immediate response that they were recovered, and the picture was taken before they were put back in. It looks to me like the car has had some decent atention paid to it, and even tho it's a "mere" 82, that is why it is doing well.
Only 9 hours left - someone could grab a pretty nice time piece. Try restoring one back to that condition. $10 or $12K seems cheap by comparison.

Note that they say it was a "local trade-in " not that it was taken in on trade by their store ....implies they bought it from another dealer or at wholesale auction. Both of which would mean they known little about the history of the car.....just what it LOOKS like....NOW! And yes in the photos it looks pretty nice. Makes it look easy to buy a $5,000 car for $10,000 ($9,200 next bid) and avoid all the time and effort "restoring" one yourself.....Besides at $9,200 it is still about half what a 1982 911 with similar miles and appearance might bring, so a relatively inexpensive Porsche purchase.
And what people in Green Bay might pay for a 928 , or do to one, has little to do with anything logical or rational.....

Looking like a typical fact-washed dealer flip at this point.

I am not in the 928 market YET . Still have my hands full with the 951.

But if I was I would not think that the price is too bad on this one. And for sure not after looking at a couple of those beaters at $5,000. And the others at $75,000 . Yeah I am sure they think they are "worth it." But no way I am going up there in price unless it is a 1994 Turbo Carrera in Pearl . I would be stopping at the Houston Porsche dealer first. But that is me.

BTW I have seen bids that jump up quickly and then just stay right in that area. Weird. But happens. Maybe better than all the last 30 seconds bidding.

Neither did I, until the information gaps appeared.
Still could be solid
Its a premium price for an 82 by 100%.
