Well, usually i do, or my dad does it if i don't have the time. I just did a complete tune up and brake job for our 98' Corolla, 380 000KM on the thing and it's still driven every day without fail. When i was like 14 or 15 i wanted to start maintaining our cars to get some practical experience in addition to all the time i spend in the automotive shop at school, mostly restoring old donations (we've restored completely 2 Austin Healey's, a Coronet, and a 65 1/2 Mustang), now, i don't want to say they were perfect jobs, since highschool's don't really get enough funding to have tools that aren't from the 50's. I don't want to be a mechanic by any means, i just like cars.

It should start right at 14 (well close, like 13.7) and not require revving the motor to get to 14 unless the exciter circuit is not working or you have all the lights on and a big boom box amp blaring. Read about the exciter circuit and put it on your list. Not essential but would be good to fix at some point.

OK good to know that you have had some experience, training and a beater car to get around with. All will make your 928 ownership a much happier experience. Do the simple things like fluids, brake bleed, cap rotors and check out the fuel lines. Then drive it and see what else it might need .
