Default VIN Replica Door Jamb Decal

I just had a friend make these for me on his computer. They are VERY close to original. NO Porsche part number on them so not a EXACT copy. The silver/gray color is darker as well...but for those that don't have one or are doing a full repaint...this will work. The font is dead on. I plan on taking tracing paper and do a scrape ( pencil ) over the VIN and date and then use a very small drill to transpose the preferation....I think this will work. It is the proper size and has a plastic face feel so I think it will survive well in the door jamb.

Next up will be replication paint code stickers too boot.

Just to be CLEAR! There is NO Porsche part number as the originals would have. The COLOR is OFF and a knowledgeable 928 person would be able to tell the difference. This is for COSMETIC purposes ONLY!

Here is the Auto Cad number font. One is Garrett's VIN and the other is a master. Some of these numbers I do not have so feed back on errors would be nice.

Might work where you are, but In Calif, these would not be acceptable. I have done several repaints here on 914, 928 and an MG, always mask out the vin , color sticker and others, so the DMV does not challenge !

Well...the 911 community has been making their own reproductions for some time now. Not sure what states theirs in. I would bet that no one that's not a P car person would know its a repro. As long as the vin MATCHES the A pillar plate.

I would guess that many states could care less about these stickers......Of the 3 928's I have owned in Texas nobody has ever looked at these stickers on any of the cars.....and as Dean says "cosmetic only".

And how would DMV in CA know the difference between "real" and Memorex? Not suggesting anything illegal at all, or even trying to fool the fine state of CA, I am just asking how could they tell if the reproduction is very accurate? And as long as it is accurate and agrees with the real VIN on the windshield and the VIN on the title why would most people care on an old car? Just looking to be educated here on things that seem to defy conventional wisdom (except in CA)

AFAIK, mine have never even been LOOKED AT, let alone challenged or questioned, but they are original. I am inclined to do a repaint on a car in the future though (already planning for it and looking for the correct donor car) and this is going to be AWESOME TO HAVE!

Neil...I know there is a lot I can't do in California I can do here. Heck...I just painted my sons car at home without water based paint. I know I could not do that there.

I hope you don't feel anyone is ganging up on you...we aren't. This repro door sticker may be best used elsewhere other than California.

Dean,
You would want to have that sticker laminated else it will self destruct the first time it gets wet.
