What you could have gotten instead of a 928 in 1987

I really could not find a equal alternate to the 928S4 in 1987. The 928 was sitting on top of the automotive world in its time. It was in a class of its own. Sure , one can find 300hp in the Grand Nash, but that's is probably the only technical attribute that was remotely comparable to the 928. I am sorry, but the GN is butt ugly outside and inside in my book while the 928 was drop-dead-gorgeous inside out with high level of sophistications to boot. Really, 36 breast size on Rosanne Barr is no match to 34 on Heidi Klum. Power is nothing if the rest of the car is trash. The BMW M6 was just a higher powered 630CSI I used to own. The 928 runs circles around it with its power, handling, and grace.

Lots of mods some ran into the 9's in the 1/4 mile

But nothing looked like a 928 back then.

Here is a pic of my '87 GN. Stripped and ready for the paint shop.
55lb. injectors, propane injection and a few other things. Pushing 26-29 PSI.
It's a rocket in the straights, but even with suspension mods, it's like a boat in the twisties. When the turbo states spooling and presses you into the seat, it feels and sounds as if your in a jet taking off.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Well let's see now,
college kids here think my 928 might be a new car. I honestly doubt that GNX would confuse them one bit. Its styling is so 80s, it must be illegal to have a CD player installed.

Had a Ford 5.0L Mustang GT in 1988. Had a few friends who owned Grand Nationals. That car was good for scaring the crap out of you and not just because of its acceleration. Couldn't stop and couldn't turn but woe was you racing that car in a straight line.
