18 yo hits me in parking lot. Any damage estimates?
Hello All,
As if I didn't have enough to do. I was at work yesterday and parked in the far corner of our lot that is has one way in and one way out. An 18 yo old girl talking on her cell phone, driving her friends, dads toyota 4x4 decided to do a turn around and back into my car....this really sucked, when there was a perfectly good dodge to hit next to me. LOL
Anyways, according to the cop, after he got them to admit to who was really driving, that she may loose her license til she's 21....don't know if this is true or not but seems a little harsh and not sure even why that would be. I do know that she got 2 tickets for some undisclosed reason...it may say on the report when I pick it up Thursday.
Anyways, just curious if anyone had any guesstimates on repair cost.
Looks like a tail light, bumper cover has a permanent dent so not sure what can be done about that and paint....
The parents did have insurance, but not sure how well this will go.
Don't know if you guys or gals can see it but there is a dent directly under the 2 in the second picture. (easy to see in person, just hard to take a pic of)
By the way anyone have a tail light for sale..I don't think im going to be able to wait until insurance pays to fix.
Thanks for any comments,

Looks pretty minor.....new lights and paint should do it....assuming that is only a flake in the paint and not a rip in the bumper......the hard part will be matching the color of the freshly repainted bumper!
As for the girl losing her license..NOT YOUR PROBLEM....don't think for a second they weren't gonna drive away and leave you hanging either....if you weren't there they probably would have if they thought they could get away with it.....

Yep....looks like the bumper cover could be fixed, painted and the light replaced.
She probably has had several "accidents" ...you know...
like hitting a non moving vehicle while gabbing on the phone kind for example.

I would not sweat her losing her license.
Its only a recent change in most state laws, to hit kids hard...early...when it counts, to learn lessons of responsibility.
FWIW, you also got a cop that saw this for what it was..got to the bottom of it, and wasnt a dick, like this campus one I know in Stockon... *runs and hides*
Your insurance, will talk to their insurance..one side or both MAY get a statement from you..and you may be out the deductable for a short period until it's all settled.

I does seem minor. I am just wondering if the divot in the middle of the cover can be pushed back out or what the fix is for this. As for their ideas if the whole store hadn't been watching. I think lying to the officer was a sure sign that they would have taken off if no one would have seen them.

That appears to be Marine Blue Metallic.
Won't be a problem matching it if you've got a good shop doing the work. Looks to me like rear lense and paint on the bumper. I may be wrong, but don't see any real damage to the bumper.

Yea, considering it was a busy holiday weekend... the officer was very cool about everything... Ironically, she hit me while on the phone and I work for Verizon...LOL
Any estimates of the cost...

It's not your problem-it's her insurance company's problem. They will make it whole-and you have to insist it goes to a shop of your choice. If it is your daily driver they need to provide alternative transport as well (at least in New York).
If she's 18 and on the phone and has other driving issues she SHOULD have her license taken away. Lucky it was ONLY your car and not a human being or animal she hit.
I got rear ended in my 2003 Acura TL-S years ago and it was $1400 (new bumper cover and paint). The kid's father, who worked as a mechanic, offers me $250. I laughed at him and told him the paint would cost more than that. The paint was $300; cover was $800. Labor was $200. Sales Tax $100.

I wouldn't be shocked at a $1500 repair bill for this.
