Yes, two times in the last month on eBay and I was outbid for all of them (both sets). One set was from my friend Walt in Utah, so I know they were just what he said they were and they looked perfect in the pictures.

don't forget that the rear bumper shocks probably need to be replaced, since they are designed to compress only once. You'll need to remove the cover to access them. Might as well get new beading while your at it. The little things, plus the time if you have it done professionally and correctly, will add up. I'd make sure the girl pays. I can't stand these people who talk and text while driving!

Try walking in New York City...in the 1980's the average speed was close to 4 MPH--nearly jogging. Most recently it was measured at 3 MPH. I would figure it is closer to .001 MPH in Times Square (F***in' Tourists) and 2 MPH on the streets with everyone texting...

People cannot text and walk at the same time-how the F**# are they going to drive.

Sent from my iPhone (while driving).

Michael Michael Michael!
My son lives there and loves it. I love that city too. Still can't stand the driving while texting stuff - I've had too many close calls by others doing that.

Of course I was not texting and driving :-) And yes it's the way we feel. The tourists have made their way west to 9th Avenue now...it's an epidemic!

Hello All,

Sorry for the delay in replying, personal issues have kept me away from the computer.

Thanks so much to all that have offered the input, suggestions and estimates.

No, I will not be suing, as I am looking to come to a resolution promptly and as long as the insurance company satisfies my needs for compensation and repairs, then I think that the driver, (who turned out to be 16 and on a learners permit, which is why she will not be able to get a license til 21) is being punished enough with more than likely having to pay back the owners deductible and having to catch rides to school or work for the next 5 years. LOL

Jerry, thanks for the heads up on the insurance tips. I picked up the accident report today and contacted the fathers insurance company...Liberty Mutual...(anyone dealt with them?) Right off the bat, they instructed me to go to their body shops, one of which was a Chrysler dealership...and then began to explain how they would warranty the work for the lifetime of my ownership. yada yada....

I explained that I would be more than happy to take the car to their place for an estimate for comparison, but I would also be stopping into Brumos and another of my choice and then I would make my decision on place of repair. He agreed with that and I will start getting my estimates tommorow. By the way is it reasonable to ask for rental car compensation for time down for repairs?

Griffinroydonald....Thanks for the heads up, I will take you up on that offer if it is still available after things get settled. I will PM you with phone and details.

As far as the exchange of services by 18 yo goes...yikes 16 LOL

Thanks again to all

I would recommend it be removed, stripped and redone properly.
Bumper shocks will be fine as will everything else.

And instead of suing her *** off, maybe say to heal the emotional damage to you, and to inflict the right amount of damage to her just demand that you have a few nights alone with the girl being allowed to do whatever you so chose with her. Unless she is ugly as sin of course. That should inflict about the right amount of emotional scarring to her to ensure she never do something so stupid again.
Oh if only the law worked that way!

I haven't read the whole thread but I agree with Colin, that paint shouldn't flaked like that. It happens when shops don't know what they are doing or take short cuts. The paint needs a decent amount of flex additive. If you use Glasurit the factory paint then the percentage is about 25% of the primer and clear. People who don't use flex add pay the price eventually.

Dave, In Michigan, that is a property damage accident, not a collision. Your vehicle, as I understand it, was legally and properly parked on private property. In a property damage insurance claim they go by a different set of rules that typically pay all losses, including loss of use of your vehical, taxes, etc. and should provide a full-size to luxury rental because of the class/value of your 928. Do not let them try to BS you. You had no dog in this fight, you were not driving and therefore have zero culpability and they have to make you whole. I had some one ***-end total my BMW a couple of years ago while it was parked and he hit it so hard that he shoved the rear bumper underneath the rear window . Guess what he was doing while driving............texting, of course.

In New York they would provide transportation (not like kind-just up to a certain amount per day).

Do not accept their assignment of shops. I had Liberty and got into an accident. They actually went after the other party and got 70% assigned to them and 30% to me. My deductible was reduced to 30% of $500 or $150 out of my pocket. It was a non-fault and no-charge accident otherwise.

Was she on a permit without adult supervision? Forget texting, that in New York is enough to lose until 21.

Nines, Unfortunately I am not sure about the florida rulings on that...I i have had some friends get the shaft on that no fault thing.

Mickster, I definatly wont go with their shop. I made that mistake with progressive and their shop was horrible.

So, what steps should I take to get a check and just apply difference to a the full paint job that is needed or whichever priority that is needed?

Irrelevant. Permit holder in Florida must have a 21 year old or older licensed driver with them. (Just checked their DMV site).

Get a few estimates from your choice of shops. Force them to make your car whole.
