Default GTS Rescue....and it's sunroof

Hi Folks,
After working in SoCal for a few months (from Virginia). I finally realised that a motorbike (speed triple) wasn't going to cut-it for the weather. I came upon a neglected '95 GTS that had been sitting for two years, according to him and closer to four years according to her. So, flat bedded it to a friends shop and put in a timing belt and water pump. Now drivable but am inclined to address some of the "other" issues, like keeping the rain out. I can't believe how much it rained here this winter. So.....at this point I am going to replace the sunroof perimeter gasket as all drains are clear but still has water infiltration.
To my questions:
The gaskets seems to stab into the roof...are we supposed to apply any sealer to this are of contact?
Does anyone know if there is a fore and aft adjustment to the roof as there is a gap at the back even after leveling it. Maybe the front is just fatigued from UV and compressing more.
I've read here that some GTS's are pinkers or detonators.... add this one to the list.

Thanks for any thoughts, I'm sure to be back. It needs a bit of work.

There isn't really a sunroof seal per se, it's more of a sunroof trim piece. Chances are you are getting more water in through the rear hatch seal.

Hi Sean,
The general consensus appears to be that sunroofs all leak and drain away. But it does seem possible that with a gap at the back of the roof, I think a hard downpour will overcome the drain capacity. Anyway the the hatch seal doesn't seem too compressed or malformed. Of course you could be right. I'm also told, the hatch hinges can leak..........is it possible to apply a little sealer on each hinge bolt separately to avoid misaligning the hatch?
Just fishing there,
Coleman

Man, to find a '95 GTS just "sitting around" is HIGHLY unusual... Please take some pics and post them and tell us all about it. There were only 86 (or something like that) '95 GTS's imported even! VERY RARE!

Hi Jim,
No it is leaking at the back......I just used the garden hose to further diagnose by spraying toward the rear but between the sunroof and the hatch......It appears Sean is right. It is coming in near the hatch hinges. So a new hatch seal is in order. I'm still interested to know if one can put a little sealer on the hinge bolts, one at a time.

James,
I'll take some pics as soon as I figure out how. I suspect there is a sticky somewhere for that.

Anyway, nice catch Sean,
Coleman
