Default Engineers got that one wrong

Went to change the fuel filter on the 86.5 this morning, read that it was easy to do. That was wat too easy, surprised they didn't put it above the transmission just to make it more difficult. It appears it hasen't been changed since 94, also noticed a clamp completely corroded on the hose out of the bottom of the tank so it got changed as well. The wheels are back from powder coat hope to get them back together next week and get her back on the ground. Attachment 529208

Huh? Isn't it in the rear wheel arch behind a plastic cover? or is it alongside the pump under the rear of the tank, either way, hardly difficult.

Early CIS cars filter and accumulator are in front of the right rear wheel but tend to get really corroded over time from the spray off the tire even with the plastic cover shield.

Considerably easier than in-tank filters attached to the in-tank pump in many modern cars, IMHO.
