I just completed my timing belt change a few months ago and as a precaution I always check the female spade connections to ensure that they are a good tight push on fit. If they appear loose I give them a bit of a squeeze with a set of pliers to ensure a good low resistance connection

When I do the timing belt tension check at 1,500 miles I will again check the electrical connections to the tensioner and a continunity check of the wiring and also undertake a test to ensure that the light does comes on after 3 minutes with the engine running.

Tails: That is the first thing I plan to check. Have found that loose before.

I had a light issue that took me 3 times of double checking everything before I was convinced was only a light problem. In the end it was the external wire connection to the pin connector in the cover. It is a blind connection so hard to check. Once I confirmed that I had a solid ground connection on the pin in the cover I inserted a few strands of copper wire over the socket to increase the tension between the pin and socket, problem solved, at least until I remove the connector.

4/22 Update: First of all, I want to thank Bill for spending the time checking this out for me. Really a great guy.

Basically the only thing we found without digging too far in was that the Timing belt sensor wire that I had fixed 10 years ago was a little frayed. Bill wrapped it up with electrical tape and the next time I have the car serviced, I'll have them splice a new one on. The timing belt tension was good. Bill lives about 45 minutes from me and the light did not come on on the drive over, nor on the drive back. So I'm positive at this point it's an electrical issue and not a belt/wp issue.
