Default 928 Estate winning GT3 race and TT overalls!!!

Well I saw the official results for NCRC's Race and TT standings.... The 928 Estate is holding 1st place in both classes!!!!

Time Trial

Race
http://www.ncracing.org/arcstandings.php

I'm stoked....it just goes to show how capable ANY 928 is as a "gut and go" racer.....even on a "lemons" budget!!! As I tell anyone at the track...there is not another race car there that can match the 928 on a $$$ vs lap time challenge...

Wow, and with a 3-speed auto. BTW, you just sounded exactly like Kibort. I think cheap race 928's give birth to them

Since it's still a 4.7, any reason why that would bump him out of GT3?

Does this group do power / weight like NASA?

The Ferrari in GT2 has a 3.5 liter, about 3,000lbs with around 290 - 300 at the wheels (assuming stock).

NCRC does classifications by wt to hp same as NASA does -

http://www.ncracing.org/classification.php http://www.nasaproracing.com/proraci...-To-Choose.pdf

Disclaimer - I have never ran with Brians club - I just pulled this info from the clubs website.

Most likely if he was running a Euro S and dropped the weight to 2600 like mine - he would be moved up a class. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I mainly run HPDE and PDP so I'm of out of the racers loop.

Great job!

Gut and Go... I like that idea. When my son gets a little older, I think we may have to try that.

I'm in the early stages of putting a deal together to drive a 928 in Chump Car towards the end of summer (I'm prodding the car owner to join up here).

Joel (Vette team owner) and I are also starting to put together our own team, not sure what kind of car yet.
A 928 or Corvette would be fun, but he's worried (and rightfully so) about fuel economy. Not sure how this comes into play with LeMons but some quick number crunching takes a moderately fast 16V out of contention over a 7 hour race at Road America against Honda's and Miata's.

Kinda....but with the disappearing coolant + numerous oil leaks need to be fixed before I can do an endurance race....

The power to weight (whp and weight with driver) of the Estate is about 14.0 using NASA's power formula of including torque...using just whp its almost 15.0

GT3 is the correct classification for NCRC.... I need to tweak a few things to make NASA GTS2....

Hacker...gotta do it for another chump-lemons 928....ANY early 928 will work, seriously.....I think the 3 speed would work really well since you can select 1st and it pulls to about 70mph (I think)...which would be much better than the near 90mph 2nd I have, which is the lowest gear I can use....of course a 5 speed with LSD would ROCK.... Install a 3/8th pan spacer with OB oil pan and it should survive....an accusump is a great idea if you can swing it with the budget....
