Please Come over. There are some really cool cars. Last year the RR/Bentley club came. On A different meeting the Ypsi fire department came and showed how to put out car fires by burning 2 Junkers. Best place is inside about 9:30 am, free coffee & donuts. Last year we went to willow Run and had a meeting at
Kalletts drag shop. Yes, most of are old "farts" but passionate about cars. A few years ago the 928 club was the main show. Mac

I am working something out with the wife... She is totally against me buying a "Foreign" car... (Daddy worked for Ford)
I need some help coming up with excuses to get out for the get together, anybody have any? She's a sharp tack, so they have to be good. I tried the "Stand Up To Her" routine, but that was an epic fail!

66-67 Skylark? Beautiful! I had a yellow 66 Cutlass. I bought it for 500 bux, put 5 grand into it and sold it for 10... 60's cars are money makers. IF you can find a decent car to start with.
BigMac, when the next event comes up, please let me know. I'll be there for sure!

I almost had a 64 4-4-2 but my dad was opposed to Stick shift. Finally had a 67 GTO. in med school, my daughter used to yell when I floured it. Now she is a professor @U of Penn and drives a Zip car.

Solution to problem is bring the wife along. Group will of course be on their BEST BEHAVIOR with red in the room. Right...
Lots of social stuff in store for you with a 928. A 928 sage refererred to it as a cult car, and that's surely true. While most wives don't have the obsession, at least they have sympathy for their mates that do. In some parts of this country, wives are actually allowed to share in the fun. It's a core belief I understand, traces back to "the purfuit of happineff", whatever that is.
Great group there, devoted, and lots of support. I'll warn you now that it's a slippery slope. No 'return on investment' like some GM muscle cars, but only because the German muscle cars have a smaller following. Buy one, make it nice, make it yours, and enjoy the hell out of it.

Three thousand for a 'project' 928 will just be the down payment, and the recovery costs will be a lot more. Buy an excellent car, that way you can start out learning maintenance rather than restoration skills. I'll speculate that there's somewhere better than a 2:1 ROI on initial dollars vs. recovery dollars when you look at first-years costs of ownership including purchase price.

Keep in mind that there are lots of great guys who will wrench on your car for a few beers. Come to Millikins to see some really great cars. Had to push a blue Ferrari out to get my 928 out. Big 911 group.
