Hi Bill,

Yes, it's fixed, the long and short of it, it was the transmission mounts.

Link,
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ine-fixed.html

After replacing the mounts I felt more happier revving to the redline, but found I had a slight miss above 5k, tunned out to be the king leads.

It's now with Constanine's super bearings fitted its the smoothest its ever been in my ownership but with 291k on the clock I don't think it will ever have the silkly smoothness it had when new.

Thanks for coming back to connect this thread to the final soluition thread. That's a pretty dramatic result with the tranny mounts.

Whitesands

Glad ya got it figured out.

My shop is in Panama City. We are the shop Constantine was referring to:
"One more problem area from memory.

There was a thread on here about a year ago about a torque converter going bad and giving vibrations into the drive line.

This was found by an independent shop and I remember being impressed that they were able to diagnose this failure for the 928 owner who was experiencing driveline vibrations."

We race Porsche's , have a chassis dyno in house, and have a ton of 928 experience. I have done just about everything you can to a 928 at some point. Superchargers, turbos, stroker motors, etc.
We have used Constantine's bearings with great results as well.

Lucky Ekman , former owner of Devek, is a buddy of mine and is at the shop weekly.

We have a newsletter on our website that will let you know about any of the driving events we do. We sponser the Destin car club and along with them we put on a huge car show every year for charity. This year it's at Grand Boulevard in San Destin, Oct 27th.

I'm not writing this as an ad looking for buisness, I'm just a Porsche nut. Also sounds like you do your work yourself, which is great. I am just offering any help or advice I can give as another Porsche guy thats not to far away.

If you ever need a hand with something just give me a call or if you are in P.C. stop by sometime !

Dave:

Sounds like you have a great shop. I haven't seen Lucky in 5 or 6 years. Glad to hear he's around.

Dave,

I don't remember you telling me you knew Lucky Ekman!

By happenstance I met him at a local Race Stop gas station in Fort Pierce years ago since I spied a 928 with the hood up in the parking lot. I did a U-turn to see if I could help and met "the" Lucky Ekman who I heard so much about and his start up of DEVEK. Small world when you talk 928s.

Great to see you on here posting. Hope all is going well.

Best regards,

P.S. I should add that I first met Dave Smith at the Sebring 12 hour races a few years ago and was very impressed with his quality of work on his customer's race cars as well as a tricked out 996 TT.

That he is involved with 928s is a great thing for 928 owners. I hope he will continue to post on this 928 forum which will add to our knowledge base for these great cars.

Hi Dave,

I remember reading the thread on the bad torque converter and hoping that wasn't my problem.

I've attended the Destin show since 2007 and enjoyed them all, I have spoke to you briefly to say thanks for show.

I do, like many people on here, do my own work, so far the problems with the car I've been able to tackle myself but it's nice to know knowable people like yourself are not faraway.

Best regards,
