I have looked at and bought many many cars over the years.....unless you see it and KNOW what you are looking at you are really gambling. Most people grossly misrepresent cars they are selling either on purpose or because they do not know better. Some are outright crooks flipping cars on Craigslist/e-bay with open titles. Yes some people have had good luck with unseen E-bay Auto purchases but recognize it is LUCK and not the norm. Perhaps one reason why many people look down on used car salesmen is because of what those same people do when getting rid of their own cars

On topic: It sounds like this buyer did no prior inspection; I hope somebody makes this a track car.[/QUOTE]

This is the other side of "too good to be true" which is too sad to be true. I'm inclined to not believe this poor fool. It sounds like a scam; the guy is internet savvy enough to have done 149 ebay transx, 100% feedback, and then it gets weird; I'm sure there are crazier stories that are true.

Ya know I drive a 928 for a few different reasons, but one of the main ones is because it's unique!! You know what I mean... anyone can drive a mustang, and most vets are driven by dudes going through their mid life crisis...haha .... and they are everywhere.

haha... yeah I know how that works... A labor of love, blood, money!! This is my 3rd 928. I started with an 83s 5spd and loved it, it was very snappy and kind of a cream white. The syncro's were shot though and it was tricky to shift. Then went to an black on black 87s4 auto. I bought my current 89s4 5spd for $9000 sight unseen in Carolina a couple years ago, kinda like the guy who just got screwed. But I got lucky and mine made the drive home. But then I didn't pay for the car untill I test drove it and checked it out myself!!!!! I just got done supercharging it this winter
I am west of Grand Rapids twards Grand Haven, and I believe that guy is in GRand Haven.
Hey you car looks pretty Phat with those rims and no tail... Very nice

I think you are missing my point. It is not safer if the bank doesn't back you up. If my recent experience is any indication (and I think my case was stronger than this) and I went to Bank of America and said "the transmission died," they would not credit my account. As it relates to this transaction, it is all the more reason you cannot count on them to act as your agent; you must inspect and be confident the product, whatever it is, is what you want.
