Default Rear Hatch Adjustment Bumpers

Even after I loosen the bolts on the rubber bumpers used to align the rear hatch, I cannot get them to move. Is there some trick I am just not seeing? I have not tried to remove the bolts all the way, since I'm afraid I'll loose something down inside of the hatch itself. Has anyone had this experience?

This is a pic of the bumper I'm referring too (black rubber about halfway up in the hatch channel) - the center bolt holding it to the hatch loosens easily, it's just that I cannot move the bumper at all, even after the bolt is loose:

You can take that bolt all the way out. Nothing should fall inside. It must just be stuck. Be careful not to pull paint off with it.

Also...I think its on upside down.
I think the bevel should be down to allow water to flow under it. Although the PET shows it like you have it mounted.

They've probably just been in that position for a LONG time. I adjusted mine last weekend in preparation of adjusting the whole hatch forward. Mine just dropped overcenter and flopped around. I will have to hold them parallel to the body when I tighten them up again.

I would get a putty knife or other flat object (maybe a plastic paint putty knife) and gently pry under one edge. Maybe a piece or tape to make sure you don't damage any paint... they should just pop loose though.

On the hatch itself do you see the plastic "striker" clear tape? I just learned that mine is missing. The rubber should come free and adjust up or down as needed. The bolt comes out also, and the nut must be welded in place.

Nope.

The bevel acts to wedge the hatch tightly in place when closed.
