And you thought 928 guys had it bad. 997 owners rock it.

Race Car
I floor my Honda Civic Hybrid and Subaru Forester Turbo--otherwise how can I go fast quickly?
(Okay fast and Honda Civic Hybrid are relative).
Pu$$ies...they should drive it like the car was designed to be driven...WOT!!!

Rain, who drives in the rain? I baby my cars and protect them from all potential harm. I even wash them with anti-bacterial soap while wearing latex gloves just to make sure they don't pick up a nasty virus.
In reality, when it rains for a consistent period of time I go out and wash my cars. I pull them back into the garage and then give them a minor wipe down. Rainwater leaves no spots.

I was going to get a Civic hybrid but ended up driving off in the relatively gas-guzzling Si...I blame my 928s.

Its cool that you guys have your fun with these knuckle heads. I have been known to torch these guys from the GT3 forum. The only reason I have a 997 S and not a 08 GT3 RS is because Porsche has knocked the ball out of the ball park with the 997 S PDK as opposed to barely dribbling the ball off the Teeball Tee with the 1999 Carrera S.
HOWEVER you are going to get these kinds of guys no matter WHAT car it is. Guys like this are a young doctor (like my Pain management doc) who's practice is just starting to roll in the cash. They have NO idea of what car is what. For instance my Dr. calls the 911 TT, the 911 Carrera 4 S Twin Turbo.
So they start to see Money for the first time(might be a young business dude or an old guy who is retired from the military, then went cival Service then retired then goes to become a contractor, three pay checks and no where to spend it) They have never owned a car like this, and they discover forums. Chances are they arent like me where I cried as a 14 year old because I couldnt get the needle bearings into the first universal joint I tried to rebuild on my pickup truck.
This is their first car of any consequence and they are overwhelmed by the sudden awareness of the joy of a sports car.
This happens in a Porsche forum, it happens in a Jaguar forum, it happens in an Aston forum and its most worse in a Ferrari forum. In a Ferrari forum you get questions like:
What happens at 3000 miles?
Do you change your own oil or just sell it?
Would you EVER buy a Fcar with 1500 miles on it?
If it ever rained on your car do you go straight to the dealer?
So while we smile at these 997 guys they arent as bad as others. THIS 997 PDK car has cause alot of Track junkies and GT car junkies like me to come over to the mild side to taste the wild ride of this GREAT 911 that Porsche has built. Like I said before- There are guys in the GT3 forum complaining of "not being able to pass "plain ole 997.2's" in my GT3"
Its plainly the best 911 Porsche has built and maybe the best Porsche Porsche has ever built sports car wise.

There is a lot of humor going on in that 997 "How do you back up" thread.

I bought my 85 from a guy who had owned it since 89. He NEVER drove it in the rain, and that was not a bad thing in my book. I have driven it in the rain several times, but I don't go out of my way to do it.
When I was at SITM a couple of years ago, I got caught out in a hail storm, and turned around and ran the other way. NASTY hail, thought I might get dents.
Missed the dinner. It really was that bad. That is the only time the rain really bothered me.
