It's not a deal. There are a lot of questions which means risk. It will probably work, how well and for how long is the question. Higher risk... lower price.

The support issue is also a very good point. It is no longer a Murf kit, IMO, but I'm sure Tim will go out of his way to assist the purchaser to a reasonable extent just because that's the kind of guy he is.

Will be watching this one...

In the ad, Kevin mentions that he "went turbo and never looked back". I wonder why he hasn't posted an update here about that. I remember him mentioning his plans to go with a turbo but I never heard anymore about it.

I bought a partial kit here from a Rennlister that was one of the original FAST kits. I paid less then this one but had to do some fabrication and trial/error on my own to get it the way I wanted it. I am very pleased with the end result, but it wasn't an easy road, many times asking the question "what have I done!"

The big thing is the head unit, buying used can be a gamble. You have to get it cheap enough that an unexpected rebuild won't blow your budget.

That said, looking at the pics all the high $$ parts are included; head unit, pulleys, bracket/tensioner, fans, intercooler, BOV, FMU etc. Only thing I see that it needs is injectors and sharktune if you want to go above stage 1 boost.

The intercooler is not a Murph part, so we have no way of knowing if it is a cheap made in china part or what it is.

So for me that was a part that would have to be replaced, and it may very well be a great unit, it is just that I do not know if it is or not.

His car was sold on Ebay, and there was no turbo on it.

Does anyone have any pics of Kevins car? I remember it on Ebay at the time but the Ebay listing is no longer valid?

If so concerned just take it to a radiator shop and pressure test it. That IC looks like it's well made. If it holds pressure, then it will cool. There is a limited amount of room under the hood of the 928 so, just like this IC, the Murf IC is a comprimise too. From here, this kit looks very complete, at a heck of a good price.

There is also a airflow question, along with a durability question.
Again, I am not saying the kit will not work, just that there are to many unknowns for me to buy it at 2500$.

Airflow? Meh...... they are all made using a car's heater core. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree but if the SC is in good shape, to me, $2500 is a very good price.

Maybe I am just chicken, go ahead and buy it, let us know how it works out.
I have no doubts that it can be made to work, it may be simple, and then again it may not be.
May be a smoking deal, and then again, it may not be.

A rebuild on the head unit from Carl is $700 so even in saying the head unit needs this at the ebay price it sold for you would have $3500 into it. A new Stage 1 Murf is $4995, plus you get the bonus of the intercooler parts if you decide to bump it up (saying they are good). Overall I say whoever did get it, it was well bought.
